45407, running as 45157, brings one of the 'Cotton Spinner' trips up the last stage of the gradient into Oldham Werneth on 21st April 2003. The Cotton Spinners were a series of five trips round the Oldham Loop, the first two with 4MT 76079 and then 45407 took over. Fifteen pounds for an hour long trip with 76079, including some fierce gradients, was good value and then we photographed the Black Five. See image 21183 from the same bridge six years later, just prior to the end of heavy rail services.
