Interlaken West
View at Interlaken West on a summer evening in 1966. At the pier is MV Oberhofen, a vessel operated at that time by the BLS on Lake Thun on local services around Interlaken. The Oberhofen was rather smaller than other BLS vessels that would cruise the full length of the lake, and I believe she is still in BLS operation today, albeit now only on private charters. The BLS Ce 4/6 electric locomotive in the station will certainly not be in regular service now, and it would already have been more than forty years old when the picture was taken. Two examples have however been preserved, and at least one can be seen occasionally on specials. Dominating the background are the Monch and Jungfrau mountains
