Bassenthwaite Lake
Although the station house at Bassenthwaite Lake survived the 1966 closure the station itself fell into dereliction. Very recently the site has been transformed into the Orient Express cafe and special events venue using the rebuilt station, the westbound platform and this star attraction. Full credit to the owners for rapidly steering this project to a very successful conclusion in difficult times.
