Looking in a southerly direction along the A688 Bishop Auckland road, on the edge of Barnard Castle, to the section of road that rises to cross the skew overbridge across the former Barnard Castle to Darlington line. The iron railings on the left mark the location of the bridge with an overgrown cutting below, and beyond the short cutting the trackbed is extant for some 1/4 mile upto the site of Black Beck level crossing on the section running to Darlington. See image 79250. The solum is obliterated on the Barnard Castle side of the bridge.
