Tywyn Wharf

Exterior of Tywyn (formerly Towyn) Wharf station, Talyllyn Railway, the world's first ever heritage line, on 24th May 2016. The heritage railway movement in the UK today is all down to the wisdom and foresight of one man, Tom Rolt (1910-1974) who conceived the idea of reviving the Talyllyn Railway from its almost derelict state in the 1950s. Better known as the author, L.T.C. Rolt, the story of his rescuing the Talyllyn Railway is told in his book 'Railway Adventure'. He also helped to restore canals back from their near derelict state too, thanks to the publication of his book 'Narrow Boat' in 1944.
