A HST passes the disused link into Burntisland Aluminium Works in 1985. The transfer of bauxite by rail seems to have finished around 1980. Newbigging signalbox was abolished in October 1979 with control passed to Edinburgh Signalling Centre. This led to the removal of a crossover and 'wrong line' working from Burntisland East Junction of traffic to BACo until closure. This image shows the sign stating 'Trains run either way on Down line' that covered that period of working.
