BR Scottish Region's Grand Tour no.4 in 1968 was a day excursion from Edinburgh to Stafford, with an interesting mixture of diesel, steam and electric haulage. A Class 47 diesel gave way to steam at Hellifield, with Britannia 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' taking the train onwards to Stockport, where a Class 85 electric took over for the final section to Stafford. 70013 is seen here ready to leave Stockport on the return trip, this time heading for Preston, where diesel haulage resumed.
