Finse

Finse station, at 1222m (4010') ASL is the highest on the Norwegian rail network. That height and the northern latitude means there was still a lot of snow around when the Bergen Express called in May 2022. There is no public road access to the area but the village developed as a resort once the railway arrived. The station, in typical Norwegian ox blood red paint, also houses a museum dedicated to the navvys who built the railway through such inhospitable terrain.
