Keswick Big Tunnel

If you build it, they will come. Hikers enjoy the re-opened railway tunnel East of Keswick. This tunnel was originally closed because the builders of the Keswick bypass road bridge feared that their pile driving nearby would render the tunnel unsafe. It seems to have survived that exercise and years of being filled and closed admirably. Fortunately it was only filled with earth, not concrete - National Highways, please note.
