Bridge 38 on the Lancaster Canal is the Hollowforth Aqueduct over the Barton Brook. This comprises three elliptical stone tubes to take the brook under the canal. One of these also has an elevated gangway for a public footpath (when the watercourse is not in flood). This view looks west and there is a small weir on the downstream side of the aqueduct. This unusual structure is not really visible from the towpath, but the public footpath allows it to be fully appreciated.
