Stainton Aqueduct (Br 171) is very close to the north end of the watered section of the Lancaster Canal, which finishes at Bridge 172. It carries the Stainton Beck under the canal but was severely damaged in the Storm Desmond flooding of 2015, including the partial collapse of this portal. Thankfully, because this section of the canal serves no practical purpose, the funding was found to restore the structure as seen here in November 2020. A display board on the towpath has some interesting 'before and after' pictures of the restoration.
