Glencorse Viaduct

Looking over a wall alongside the A701 at Glencorse, Midlothian, showing the eastern portal of Glencorse Tunnel. Trains from Roslin reached this point by crossing a viaduct off to the left and, after clearing the 40 yard tunnel, turned south to reach Glencorse station on the other side of the road. The station lost its passenger service in 1933, while the line from Roslin closed completely in 1959. The viaduct was demolished in 1987 and the tunnel entrances were subsequently fenced off. View south west in February 2011, with traffic on the A701 heading for Penicuik.
