A number of old working boats on the Leeds and Liverpool have been converted into pleasure craft or floating homes. 'Mersey', moored near Lathom Junction in October 2021, is a typical example of one of these wide-beam craft. I can just remember the last of them in commercial service in the late 1960s around East Lancashire, painted in BWB blue and yellow. They sit a bit higher in the water now than when loaded with power station coal or other bulk loads.
