Apart from a very short length by the now filled in Kendal Terminus, the only point on the Lancaster Canal where the towpath moves to the east side of the waterway is a short distance in Lancaster between Bridges 98 and 100. This is the 'Changeline' Bridge 98 where a horse travellng northwards would pass under the arch before climbing round over the bridge without needing to unhitch the rope.
