Approaching Muirkirk, near Auldhouseburn Junction, the Caledonian line from Lanark had to cross the Muirkirk canal twice due to the meandering course of the canal at this point. The canal's course being dictated by the topography. This is the first bridge and is close to the junction. It is showing signs of deterioration with stonework missing from the arch and above on the trackbed the parapets are being pushed out by mature trees
growing on the trackbed.
