This was the northern portion of the Leven shipyard of William Denny. A new walkway runs by the new flats on the west side of the old fitting out basin, on the MacMillan's yard / Ballantynes side of the basin. The large concrete pier shown here dates from after closure of Dennys, in the John Brown Land Boilers / Forster Wheeler period when large boilers for power stations were built here. The Denny Tank Museum can just about be seen in the top right of the view. The shipyard was served by branches from the NBR (actually in Dumbarton and Balloch Joint ownership) and the CR (Lanarkshire and Dumbartonshire Railway).
