Olney

The railway took a much straighter path than the road beneath this bridge near Olney. A former colleague rode under the bridge on his motorbike in the early 1960s, when trains were still running. He was followed by a policeman riding a type of motorbike which had a nasty habit of sudden rear wheel skids. When he noticed the PC's headlight was no longer visible in his mirrors, he felt he should return and check his welfare. He found him picking up his bike and asked if it was icy under the bridge. This incident took place in July.
