Woodacre Crossing
Ice Breakers. During and immediately after the national strike days, when no overnight trains had run, the first movement over Shap in each direction was an LSL electric loco to clear any OLE ice. These had run in pairs, 87002 with 90002 and 86101 with 90001, but on 18th December single locos were used. 86101 ran from Crewe to Carlisle and this is 90001 'Royal Scot' making the other run passing Woodacre. The southbound run was an hour later than scheduled, but that meant it was just ahead of the first Pendolino of the day.
