Raynes Park

The London & Southampton Railway had opened in 1838 but Raynes Park station was not opened until 30th October 1871 by the London & South Western Railway and sited where the 1859 line to Epsom via Ewell diverged. The layout was altered in 1884 when the station was given staggered island platforms on both sets of lines with a new flyunder below the main line tracks from the Epsom line, taking those trains into the outer edge of the up main platform, behind where this Woking to Waterloo service calls on the afternoon of Saturday, 22nd October 2022. The down Epsom line was also given its own platform to the south of the down main from which this scene was taken.
