Bank Hall Colliery

Coal from Bank Hall Colliery went out by both train and canal. The bridge on the left spans the entrance to a basin that is still in water but no longer navigable. A second basin was to the right, now underneath the modern green building. It was a lock free sixteen miles from here to Whitebirk Power Station in Blackburn and a wide beam motor boat with an unpowered barge in tow could deliver around 100 tons of coal on each trip.
