A short piece of embankment of the old Crystal Palace High Level branch of the LCDR, looking north from where it crossed Lordship Lane on an elaborately ornamented bridge, now completely disappeared. The line opened on 1st August 1865 with Lordship Lane station opened a month later on 1st September. It was on the south side of the bridge but no trace remains, the site being covered by housing. This station was only three quarters of a mile west of Forest Hill station on the LBSCR's London & Croydon line, which paralleled the High Level branch for most of its way. Closure of the entire branch on 20th September 1954 was not, therefore, entirely surprising. This view is on 14th January 2023.
