Carron Harbour

170427 passes the disused Carron Harbour, with the 13.40 from Dundee to Edinburgh, on 30 January 2023. Burntisland is in the background. Carron Harbour was built by the Carron Iron Company in 1808 to ship locally mined limestone to their works near Falkirk, replacing an earlier pier. A narrow gauge tramway connected the workings with the harbour, passing under the new main line that opened in 1890.
