West Renfrew Engineering and Shipbuilding Works
This is a view taken in 2000 looking to the east over the site of shipyards in Renfrew. The former fitting out basin and buildings on the right were the West Renfrew shipyard of Lobnitz & Co Ltd's shipyard. Just beyond were the London Works of William Simons & Co Ltd. The companies merged to become Simons-Lobnitz Ltd. Both works were served by the Paisley and Renfrew Railway with sidings which ran out from Meadowside Junction (and a second connection from the West Renfrew works ran from Blythswood Signal Box on the Glasgow and Renfrew District Railway). The site of Renfrew Wharf station was close to the small oil works in the distance.
