Granton Gasworks [Station]

At an unveiling on 11th March 2023, John Cameron declared Granton to have been Britain's largest private station and now Scotland's 30th Red Wheel, and said that too much of his BR career had been about closing things so what a pleasure it was to be helping open something - with the prospect of rails returning in the shape of Edinburgh Trams.

His speech followed those of Cllr Cammy Day, Edinburgh City Council Leader (and local member) and Ben Macpherson MSP and the cutting of a tape by one of the artists. I was surprised to learn that much of the building's art activity will be virtual e.g. apps rather than say on canvas.

Also present were railway photographer Hamish Stevenson and author Kenny Williamson whose new book about the railways of Edinburgh, Granton and Leith was published the previous day.
