Stratford Market [2nd]

Seen through a zoom lens across a busy dual carriageway, the street level building of the former Stratford Market station, on Saturday, 4th March 2023. This opened as Stratford Bridge with the North Woolwich line on 14th June 1847 and renamed Stratford Market on 1st November 1880. Rebuilt in 1892, it closed on 6th May 1957 and stood derelict for many years before being renovated for commercial use. The line did not close until 9th December 2006 for conversion between Stratford and Canning Town into another branch of the DLR and when this opened on 31st August 2011, a new station called Stratford High Street was provided here, accessed through this former station building, hence the DLR roundel affixed to its side.
