Here is an update to my previous image 42222 from 2013. The train is still a Nottingham to Matlock service, but the two tracks into the former British Celanese factory have been lifted - the remains of a 5-bar gate can be seen behind the platform. Celanese used to give Spondon a unique aroma; it had 5 miles of railway within its site and 11 miles of roads. The core business now employs 65 people - at one stage there were 20,000 employees, taken home by a fleet of 100 buses.
