This view looks through the arch of the Dundee and Newtyle Railway's bridge over the Dighty Water to its replacement on the 1860 deviation which avoided the Balbeuchley Incline. The routes separated to the east of the bridges with the new alignment crossing over the old alignment (off to the left) as it ran west to Dronley. Just off to the right the older route had a rather tight turn from east to north to cross the bridge and then run up the Balbeuchley Incline.
