Didcot Railway Centre
An April 2023 visit to Didcot to see the GWR County 4-6-0 1014 'County of Glamorgan'. It does not come out to play very often. The locomotive is a being built from two major components, started in 2004. The boiler or mainly the firebox has come from a Stanier 8F 2-8-0. The boiler barrels are new as is the smokebox. The chassis comes from a GWR Hawksworth Modified Hall 4-6-0. Both donors are ex-Barry relics. The tender is virtually new. The boiler was undergoing a trial fit before being returned to the boilersmiths for completion.
