Bury St Edmunds

Bury St. Edmunds, eastbound platform, minus its fast tracks for many years, on 5th May 2023. This station was also, at one time, the junction for two branch lines, one that ran south to Long Melford on the Stour Valley Line, opened in 1865, and which closed to passengers on 10th April 1961 but stayed open for goods as far as Lavenham until 19th April 1965. The other ran north to Thetford on the Ely to Norwich line that opened in 1876 and which closed to passengers on 8th June 1953 and to goods on 27th June 1960.
