Fountainhall

Major changes to the road layout around Fountainhall took place during preparations for the Borders Railway. This May 2015 view south shows the old road, which linked the A7 with the village, coming in from the left, crossing the bridge over the Gala Water and passing over the former level crossing (where a road/rail machine is currently standing). This section of the old road was replaced by a higher level route (from which the photograph was taken) spanning the new line before rejoining the original road just beyond the old station house.
