Montrose

North of Montrose station the East Coast Main Line crosses over the former Montrose branch of the Caledonian. This view looks south towards Montrose from under the open railway. Both lines were single track, but the Caledonian demanded space for a second track when the bridge was built over their line. The North British's line was doubled in the 1930s.
