Mountblow Oil Terminal

7 August 1976, and 'PS Waverley' is in trouble whilst returning to Glasgow after an excursion to Rothesay and the Kyles of Bute - one of her paddles has broken and is making a terrible noise. The captain makes for the pier at the Old Kilpatrick oil depot with exhortations not to smoke!

Enter the Denny-built 'Queen Mary II', which fortunately was also on a cruise that day. The picture shows a member of the Waverley crew preparing one of the gangways which were slung between the two boats in order for the QM to take on the Waverley passengers which it did with ease. Currently there are plans to restore the QM to working condition.
