Portlaoise on the Dublin to Cork main line in the Republic of Ireland, seen from train to Dublin Heuston, on 17th June 2016. This station opened on 26th June 1847 as Maryborough but I have been unable to ascertain the date of its renaming. It is one of the busiest on the line; this platform is served by trains towards Cork.
