Beijing Chaoyang Station

The departure hall of the relatively new Beijing Chaoyang Station which opened during the pandemic in January 2021. It now acts as the principal Beijing station for high speed trains to north and north east China, given insufficient capacity at Beijing South. There are 15 platforms and, at the time of my visit the station was clearly not operating at full capacity. There was formerly a small station, Xinghuo, on the Beijing - Baotou railway on the same site from 1968 until its closure in 1996.
