Between Arndean Cutting and Devonshaw Siding, to its east, the line rose onto an embankment which was supported by braced wooden walls built with sleepers and rails. Perhaps the company was trying to stay within its boundaries rather than have a broader embankment. This wooden wall was on the south side of the embankment.
