Washington Union
It's 8.45am at Washington Union Station (where Amtrak's headquarters is located) and I am about to board Train 2106, the 9.00am Acela Express as far as New York City. All appeared fine until departure time when the train was declared a failure and passengers were asked to detrain. Fortunately, another Acela set was in a nearby track and we were able to set off in that replacement set by around 9.25am. A very unimpressive contrast to high speed train travel in China ...
