A 1969 Railway Society of Scotland railtour used a Metro Cammell DMU to visit a wide selection of interesting locations in Central Scotland, one of which was the closed station at Whifflet Upper, on the ex-Caledonian line to Airdrie. A notable landmark on the right was R B Tennent's famous iron and steel roll foundry.
