On a ruling gradient of around 1 in 60 the Weka Pass Railway in New Zealand climbs from its southern terminus at Glenmark, Waipara for 13km up to Waikari. Seemingly a regular occurrence, and a real treat, was the opportunity to disembark at this point and enjoy the sight and sound of this English Electric locomotive after it had set back into the cutting below and then emerged for a runpast going full bore to the delight of passengers - or this one at least.
