An empty ballast train returning to Millerhill South Sidings on 1 July 2018 runs through Niddrie West Junction on the sub towards Brunstane. The unusual routeing was necessitated by temporary closure of the direct line between Niddrie West and Niddrie South due to a subsidence problem, requiring a reversal via Portobello.
