Upney

The island platform at Upney, LU District Line, in torrential rain at 14.12 on Tuesday, 12th December 2023. This station was opened in 1932 with the quadrupling of the line between Barking and Upminster by the LMS, the extra tracks being for the exclusive use of District Line trains that were extended to Upminster. The station passed into BR ownership at Nationalisation in 1948 and remained so until 1969 when the line passed into LT ownership and roundels replaced Eastern Region nameboards and totems, even though these trains never served the station. The stanchions could do with a coat of paint.
