Castleford
The new footbridge and lift towers at Castleford, installed in October 2022, seen here on the morning of Wednesday, 20th September 2023. Passenger services between York and Castleford, serving a new platform on the far side of the footbridge in this view, resumed on 11th December 2023 after 53 years with the launching of a new TransPennine Express service from Manchester Piccadilly to York, also serving Huddersfield and Wakefield Kirkgate. A Northern bus service that had operated from Huddersfield to Castleford since the pandemic was withdrawn.
