The 1877 signal box at Haydon Bridge in May 2006. The box stands on the north side of the level crossing alongside the 1838 station on the Newcastle & Carlisle line. The crossing is notable as one of the declining number in the UK where crossing gates continue to be mechanically operated by the signalman turning a wheel within the box.
