Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal: A mathematical puzzle: If 66004 picks up 4 Cargowaggons from the siding nearest to the Eddie Stobart warehouse, backs them onto the rake in the other siding, pulls a total of 12 wagons out, then deposits 6 in the siding outside the warehouse; then puts the rest of the waggons back in the siding adjacent to the Northampton loop; how many waggons are now in the siding next to the main line?

Hardengreen Junction: The eastern parapet of the bridge that once carried Dalhouse Road over the NB freight line from Hardengreen Junction to Smeaton (closed 1934). Photographed in September 2014 looking south, with the route back to Hardengreen Junction (approximately 200 yards off to the right) now infilled and reclaimed. The north side of the bridge is still accessible below from the old trackbed, although the density of the vegetation prevented a suitable photograph at this time. Fortunately an opportunity arose some four and a half years later - (see image [[68132]]).

Crianlarich: A West Highland service at Crianlarich in October 1997, with the Oban portion at the front about to be detached. Some of the people on the platform will have nipped out for an oily rag; these opportunities were sometimes announced by the conductor in the days before smoking on the platform was banned.

Germiston Junction High: On 29th October 1966, one week before services from Glasgow’s Buchanan Street station came to an end, B1 61330 was photographed passing Germiston High Junction with the 11.35 to Thornton. In the distance, B1 61140 can just about be seen slowing to a stop after giving the train a helping hand up the hill from Buchanan St.
