This single track girder viaduct is above Achallader, which is to its north. The viaduct is located between Bridge of Orchy (south west) and Gorton [WHR]. It crosses the Allt Coire Achaladair.
One of the navvy camps, during construction of the line, was at Achallader (actually Bridge of Orchy?).
A halt was located here in 1929. In the early days of the line an additional crossing loop was considered here to break the single line.
Between the viaduct and Gorton [WHR] the line is skirted on both sides by the Scots Pines of the old Caledonian Forest, Crannach Forest.
Achallader Castle, a ruined fortified tower house east of Loch Tulla, is north of the viaduct. Now within the grounds of Achallader Farm.
