Ardrossan Ship YardDescription
This ship yard was to the south of the Ardrossan Old Dock with slips into the dock and a graving dock to the west. The site was bounded by the Ardrossan Western Breakwater to the west, dock to the north, approach to Ardrossan Winton Pier to the east and a timber yard at the Inches to the south east. This latter portion became the new yard.
This ship yard closed in 1964. The site was taken over by the Ardrossan Harbour Board in 1969 and is used for lorry and container parking for ferry traffic.
