This signal box closed in 1890. It was just over a mile south of Maybole.
It was just south of the 'Marl Hole', a dip in the railway south of Maybole station where the line crossed the valley of the Abbeymill Burn. To the north the line dropped into the 'hole' with a 1 in 63 for over a mile and to the south was a 1 in 105 for around a mile.
To the south was the short lived Crosshill [Ayrshire] station (1860-62).
