This colliery was location between the Rutherglen and Coatbridge Branch (Caledonian Railway) and the North British Railway's Glasgow, Bothwell, Hamilton and Coatbridge Railway Hamilton branch at Mount Vernon.
Both lines served the colliery with two distinct sets of unconnected sidings. Exit to the R&C could be in either direction but onto the NBR only an eastbound departure could be made, although two crossovers in the nearby Broomhouse station would allow running round.
On the R&C access was controlled by Daldowie Colliery signal box open between 1887 and 1921.
