Forth Iron Works (1846-1869)

Served by the Forth Ironworks Railway.

Description

This iron works had six blast furnaces. It was located north of the Stirling and Dunfermline Railway at Oakley and had its own Forth Ironworks Railway system connecting the works to various pits.

In addition to mines around Oakley the Forth Iron Company also owned other pits eg Lethans Colliery, Cowdenbeath Colliery, Pittencrieff Colliery.

The works closed in 1869.
