15/07/1946	London to Peterborough (Great Northern Railway) London Kings Cross to Aberdeen service derails south of Hatfield due to the condition of the track. 11 are injured.
17/10/2000	Great North Eastern Railway Great North Eastern Railway (GNER) London Kings Cross to Leeds train de-rails at 115mph and crashes at Hatfield, killing 4 people, when the railway track breaks due to gauge corner cracking. Over 100 speed restrictions were applied across the railway network where similar track wear was known.
