This goods yard was built to the north of Haymarket station. Approach was from Haymarket Central Junction and Haymarket Coal Yard was just to the west, also on the north side of the line.
A curved loading bank was in the north of the site alongside Haymarket Mills.
There were goods and mineral sidings and a goods shed.
The trainshed of the original Haymarket terminus was to the south and at east end.
The yard remained in use as a coal yard after removal of sidings. It was cleared in the early 1990s and has now been built over.
The route of the Edinburgh Trams runs through the yard, just north of the alignment of the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway.
